YOGA
When people ask me what is yoga, I simply say it is everything. Yoga is not something that can be defined in simple terms. Yoga is open ended and completely unique to each and everyone. Yoga is a way of life and just like everything else in life it is always changing.
When I first started practicing yoga, there were times I remember feeling low and depressed after class. But this feeling did not stop me from practicing. For some reason I trusted this practice and kept coming back at it. It was a way for me to tell life "whatever you are throwing at me, Im doing my bit".
Over the past few years my own understanding and practice of yoga has been in constant change. But if I were to define yoga in few words: Yoga is a journey of self discovery! In my yoga classes I always invite my students to let go of any expectation of what they think yoga is and how it is supposed to make them feel. Only then they can explore what yoga means to them and what brings them to this practice.
I don’t know what yoga means to you and what brings you here, you would need to discover that on your own. But I can tell you what yoga is not: yoga is not about certain positions and how the body looks but rather how it feels; yoga is not about separation, it is about union; yoga is not about judgment and resistance to change, it is about acceptance and embracing of what is and letting go of all judgements.
Tuning into the wisdom of your body and breath to reconnect with your true self is at the core of my practice. By integrating body, breath, movement, and meditative awareness, I strive to promote an understanding of the interdependency of all these aspects and their effects on our daily lives. My classes are physical, meditative, playful and nourishing that incorporate elements of numerous approaches I have studied including Hatha Yoga, Kundalini Yoga , Restorative and Yin yoga, AcroYoga and Thai Massage.
